News & Site Updates

August 28, 2009 — Quite a few updates to report:
· Remembering Frances Dee has been redesigned, its theme featuring photos from the "garden series" of portraits just contributed to the site by prizzlesprung. As these photos give a summery feel to the site, the theme will be changed by season.

· Pages about Love is a Racket (1932) and Happy Land (1943) have been added to the In the Movies section.

· Nine new portraits, including the aforementioned garden photos, have been added to the Photo Gallery.

· New among the Special Features is a page titled Dee on DVD... I've also moved the page about Far as the Eye Can See to the features section.

April 7, 2009 - Frances and Joel McCrea's eldest son, Joel Dee "Jody" McCrea, passed away on April 4. His brother, Peter McCrea, points to an obituary in the Roswell Daily Record as one "Jody would have approved of..."
May God bring comfort in this time of loss.

December 3, 2008 - On December 8th of this year, One Man's Journey will be released on DVD, in limited quanities, either singly or as part of TCM's Lost and Found RKO Collection. The set and the single are available exclusively through Shop TCM. I've got mine ordered!

November 19, 2008 - Wonderful news: One Man's Journey is to be released on DVD! The film, Frances' second with Joel McCrea, was considered lost until its recent rediscovery by TCM, and will be released as part of their Lost RKO Collection. Further details are forthcoming.

September 21, 2008 - The Movies section has been updated with a page about Playboy of Paris. I've also rewritten the page on If I Were King, and updated the filmography with listings of several films in which Frances appeared as an extra and bit player.

September 5, 2008 - With thanks to Blackie Seymour of Pentagram Library, and to David Guss, we now have a Photo Gallery. I've also changed the photos on the Features page and the main page.

July 28, 2008 - A bit of redesigning sparked several updates. I've opened a new Features section, and moved the Peter McCrea Interview and Tribute in Somerville pages there. I've also added two new pictures: one to the Features section, and one to the Author's Note.

June 28, 2008 - I've realized that the redesign of the Main page appeared with flaws in Internet Explorer, so we've reverted to the former layout, for the time being. I've also updated the page on If I Were King with a slight redesign and a new picture.

June 20, 2008 - The Main page has been redesigned to incorporate the content of the formerly separate Introduction page, and this section for the News & Updates has been opened.

May 21, 2008 - The Movies section has been updated with a page about Frances' final film: a short subject titled Far as the Eye Can See, which was released in 2006.

March 23, 2008 - Welcome to the debut of Remembering Frances Dee. I hope you will have a look around, and tell me what you think of what you see.
